These are my favourite places.

The East Lancashire Railway on Bolton Street was built in 1846, and linked the Manchester to Bolton line with Radcliffe before reaching Bury.  But in 1972,   the end of the Bury to Rawtenstall was near and complete closure of the line adapted in 1990,  when the last coal train went to Rawtenstall.  After years of work, the railway was officially opened again in 1987.  Carrying passengers at first to Ramsbottom and then in 1991 to Rawtenstall.  The railway is now used by television companies for locational work and runs many special events throughout the year.   These include weekends of,  Friends of Thomas the Tank Engine, Teddy Bears Picnics or Santa Specials, running up to christmas and for the enthusiasts, Big Engine and Diesel weekends.

The twelve screen Warner Village Cinema in Pilsworth is the second largest complex of its kind in Britain.  Next door are Resteraunts and the Megabowl with 34 computerised lanes.  In here is the  Megabites diner and licensed bar plus video games area.

The Irwell Sculpture Trail is the largest public art scheme in the United Kingdom.   The trail has been developed in clusters so that visitors can come and spend a day discovering the area and nearby attractions.  Farther up the trail,  Woodhill Road will lead you to the entrance to Burrs Park.

The Castle Leisure Centre in Bury town centre has 10 badminton courts, practise hall, 25m swimming pool, teaching pool, diving pit, weight training area, health studio, 4 squash courts, crèche, 2 meeting rooms, a cafeteria and a licensed bar.

The Museum and Art Gallery on Moss Street, Bury, is the home to the Thomas Wrigley collection of Victorian oil and water colour paintings.  As well as a wide range of themed expeditions the museum also has reconstruction's of shops and houses from the last 150 years, including a traditional toy shop and cobblers. There is also a real working model railway.

There are many more of my favourite places in my home town and lots more historic things to add, soon.
